Hey all. I don't really have anything to report. The minus 45 and below temperature meant we were just getting by for the last week. James and I also ended up getting sick over the weekend. Thankfully not covid but it sucked! We are both on the mend now. I almost have my voice back to normal! If we get the warmer weather they are promising soon I am hoping to take the kids to see the polar bears at the zoo! We were supposed to go last weekend but said cold and illness made that impossible.
The chickens are all still alive and other than one that tried to make a run for it at minus 35 have contentedly stayed in the coop. We caught her and shoved her back in the coop. Here's hoping that when they can go outside during the day again they will return at night.
The kids haven't left the door open in a few weeks! Of course our front door never closes right when it is very cold so we had to keep it dead bolted shut. We only lost power for a couple short periods during the cold snap too! Shockingly not on the night that they warned it might happen.
I have asked James for a pet groomer and maybe a pet hair dryer for grooming the dogs. The two large dogs are hard to drag to our groomer. I am sure you are all shocked by that. We were lucky that she was willing to take Thor. Both dogs are good about getting washed and Thor just needs brushing and some trimming around the eyes, so I figure it will save time, money and stress! Odin, well that is going to take some work... Prepare for some bad hair cuts while I figure it out. Odin is not as good as Thor for staying still, so I am trying to figure out where I can tie him up so he can't escape.
My dream is when we build our garage to put in a dog grooming space with a tub, table and such so I don't even need to do it in the house. Save the plumbing from Thor's hair. Maybe one day(probably very long time from now)!
