Hi again! I have managed to make it back again! I know it is very shocking. Let's jump in!
That made it sound like a lot of things have happened in the last few weeks but really its not much. We are slowly managing to get caught up on the big things we have missed or put off from December. The most exciting package arrived this week though! Some of you may be shocked to learn it was even more exciting than the package of books I received from my birthday money.
We got our SEEDS!!!! *dance party*. Now the most exciting part of this is that one of the mushroom kits were inside! They grow inside so there was no need to wait until our gross Canadian weather decides to shape up to get started! They come in a box with a little spray bottle! You just cut into the plastic and substrate a little ways and then you spray it with water 2-3 times a day until they start to grow and then 1-2 times a day until harvest!
Step one: Open
Step two: Cut and Spray
Step three: Place in a spot that gets ambient light and spray and wait!
We can't wait! We are still waiting for the pink oyster mushrooms as they are on back order. Mmmmm.... I am already thinking of all the delicious mushroom recipes we can make! If you are thinking maybe I want to grow mushrooms, you can usually get at least two harvests from the same box!
We also got the rainbow seed mix (it's labelled for kids, like adults can't enjoy growing a rainbow *scoff*. I picked them....),my perennial flower mix, creeping thyme, more zucchini, tiny romaine lettuce, strawberry blonde sunflower, echinacea, and yellow zucchini! The potatoes and onions will be coming later as they are perishable and are shipped closest to when it can go into the ground. I can't wait for the planting season to come. Soon we will be starting our tomato plants as they did very well, started early. The herbs may be started early as well for indoor growth.
Let's see. What else have we done? Oh yeah this past week was winter break from school. I was only going to work for two days which turned into one with the storm we had. So we got the kids toys organized into bins. They refuse to clean them up, so we decided to put them all in labelled bins in the craft/lego room. They have to ask for a specific toy bin, then to get another all the toys need to be back in the original bin and brought back to the room where we will give them another. This has helped so far with the toy mess but they continue to prove they can make a mess with the smallest amount of things. We have tried so many other things to get them so they care about the space they live in and use but none worked. Of course we did this and I realized there wasn't enough space in the craft/lego room for all the toy bins and all of the craft stuff and lego stuff. Yes, we might have a lego problem, but at least it is a organized problem. So realizing this we had to reorganize the rooms. We now have a lego/gym/toy storage room and craft stuff is now where the gym equipment was.
Now we just have a little more organizing to do, but we have craft space, lego space, gym space and a crafting space for the kids. I even got to do a little sewing this week!
And that is all we got done. The bigger projects are all waiting for spring to come, so I will try to post more as that comes. I will post as we accomplish things, so it may be a few weeks between posts until the beginning of April, depending on the arrival of chicks. Now I need to get back to all the other chores I still need to do today! Talk to you all later! Bye.
