This is horseshit....

... but at least it's not bullshit (a little gem of an inside joke from fencing weekend)! Well, we along with some helpers were busy little bees all weekend! The biggest update we have is the fence! I am very excited to tell you all about it, but first let's do some smaller updates to build your excitement!

The deck top is finished and so are the stairs! I was going to post on Monday but went away to visit my brother for his birthday and didn't get the chance to finish adding the pictures, so you guys are going to get a two week update. We are still waiting for the rails to come in but the rest is done! Even better we also got to pick up our deck couch. It has been too cold and wet to enjoy it so far but as this beautiful Friday is supposed to end warm, I am hoping to put the cushions on and enjoy it tonight!

The finished top!

It was actually finished before the fencing weekend with the hope we would be able to use the deck, but the stairs were finished later as we ran out of wood.

James sawing off the uneven boards to make it look pretty and so they weren't in the way of the stair boards.

I was adding some of the old deck boards to under the deck area! We eventually want to completely close the under deck this way.

I even used a saw to trim the boards! Now this may not seem impressive but I find electric saws to be terrifying. We still need to get one more board at the top, which I am not sure the best way to do it so James will make a plan then we will finish.

Away with the old stairs!

And away they went, now to add the new boards!

Finally done!

Whoa hoo for usable stairs!

And the deck couch minus the cushions, bonus I didn't realize it comes with a glass covered coffee table!

The garden, thanks to our son I ended up pulling all the Russian blue potatoes. The first half that had been in same planter as red potatoes was a little disappointing and I considered leaving the other full planter to continue growing. Our son decided (on the hottest day of the week) that we needed to pull that too since we were already out. It was a smart choice as there was a shocking amount and deep down. Now for them to rest for three weeks, though the red, fingerling and the onions will be ready for eating next week!

The outsides aren't as smooth as the violet queen potatoes from last year but I am happy to report that the inside is very purple (based on the multiple that I cut in half)!

Now to the fence! We had 8 adults in addition to James and I! Plus one of the couple's kids (company for our kids)! My aunt Heidi and uncle Cal, my Mom and Dad, my In-laws, and another couple my in-laws introduced us too (Our kids meet their kids at camp and got invited to their house for a birthday party)! ( *Brief interruption* Again thank you guys so much for coming out we got so much more done then we thought we would that first day!) Now back to original programming! Day one we got a whole side of the pasture and interior wood fencing taken down, posts repounded, wire fencing hung and the section that borders the home yard wood placed back on (with some boards replaced) on the correct side (inside of pasture so the animals push the boards into post not away)! It was a lot of work made so much better with the company! We got that all finished and then after we served supper everyone went home. My parents helped us load all the wood we removed out of the pasture on my dad's truck and we let the horses into that side who were very excited to eat the previously unreachable grass. Double thanks to my aunt Heidi who took the pictures day one as I forgot to do so (hand to forehead)!

Some proof that I feed the people!

Day two, thanks to all the help day one/ learning from our mistakes, was much easier though still physically demanding. We had my parents and us in the morning and my in-laws joined us just after lunch! My dad told me that his visits always end with him needing pain medicine, lol. I told him that they end that way for me too! So we moved to the next side! First lesson learned was to bring dad's truck into the pasture and load the boards as we removed them and worked down the line! We had all the wood boards down before lunch (start at 9am). After lunch my dad and father-in-law repounded some very tipped over posts (only ones with enough upper body strength) into proper position , upright! Then it came time to run the wire! I am not convinced my back will ever recover from being bent at the angle needed for so long. We ran out of ratchets so weren't able to ratchet the wire tight, but it is stapled and set. Finished by 3pm! We still have one section to flip the boards and one to remove all the wood and run wire. They are smaller sections and I can do them alone. And darn it I had to remember to take all the pictures.

What we started with!

Removal begins!

Wire up!

Now all done, except for ratcheting tight the day two fence!

The left overs, which we will be reusing for a new chicken coop, more decking and some plant boxes!

Now I need to get back to dealing with all the laundry that I have fallen behind on. I start back to work on Monday so I really need to get it done. Talk to you all later!

P.s. I just realized I never explained the horse shit, bullshit story. My aunt, my mom and I were filling in around a post we had to replace (put in by a taller and stronger person) and aunt Heidi was pounding dirt down around it but it was so powdery and dry that I starting scooping wetter stuff on(the horse shit portion of the story). My aunt asked why I was giving her horse shit and my mom said at least it isn't bullshit.
